Gmail Settings

Google recently announced that anyone who adds you to their circles on Google+ will be able to send messages directly to your email. Don't know about you, but I'm not cool with that! Here's how to change it ... Log in to your Gmail account and go to your Settings (click the little gear looking icon at the top right). Scroll to the middle of the page and you'll see a section that says "Email via Google+" Click the drop down and change the settings to what YOU want (not what Google wants) :) Cheers to your success!...
To Grow or Not to Grow

To Grow or Not to Grow

I recently hired a business coach of sorts and one of the first exercises he had me do was to ask for help. This is such a small thing, but for someone who was raised and had ingrained in them never to ask for help it was monumentally huge for me. And I have to say I learned a significantly more about the people in my life that I feel 'should' support me that I really cared to know. (not ready to share about that quite yet) So I have a challenge for YOU ... do ONE thing today that you're uncomfortable with. Maybe it's the same for you in asking for help. Maybe it's giving someone a hug or telling them verbally you care or that they did a good job. Whatever it is for you, take the challenge head on and break the patterns that have been holding you back. It's not fun I have to say and honestly I had an intimate conversation with the loo after I sent my email asking for help (yes it was that hard for me!), but after you've done it, well it's done! And then you can evaluate the effects - good, bad or indifferent. One thing is for sure, regardless of the response from others, YOUR internal response and processing of the exercise will help you grow beyond those self-imposed boundaries you have. What you do with that growth will determine your future. I'd love to know if you did this exercise and how you felt about it. Come back and share after you do your one uncomfortable thing!...
Web Coding – Not Just For Coders!

Web Coding – Not Just For Coders!

Or is it??? This little graphic is very much how I'm feeling today! Web coding has been all but eliminated for the common user by sites like WordPress.org and iThemes.com.  There are coders aplenty that make the task of building a fantastic, beautiful custom website super simple.  Now having said that, there are those of us (and I pray you're not like me in this respect!) that insist on having every single color 'just right' and end up spending hours on end fishing around in code like we know what we're doing. PLEASE DON'T DO THAT! Take the advise of someone who's been there - don't sweat the small stuff.  Just get your site up, get your content created and scheduled and start driving traffic to it. The truth is while you may see every little detail that needs 'tweaking' ... the average person won't have a clue anything is amiss.  So do the world a favor and get going so the world can benefit from what you have to offer. Blessings,...
Power of Tools, Digital Business Practices

Power of Tools, Digital Business Practices

Taking your business from standard newspaper marketing to the world of online marketing can be scary, I get that.  Well I get that by deferment because I work in an industry that is terrified of a fully digital interface. Personally and professionally I'm here to tell you with all the love and gentleness I can muster - GET OVER IT!  Get online! Why, because if you don't get on board your business will fall behind.  Now don't get me wrong there will always be a place for a brick and mortar shop, but I can guarantee it won't be in the same capacity that it is today and if you think back 10 to 15 or even 20 years ago I bet you'll come to realize that the manner in which your office runs has changed just a wee teeny bit in that time frame, eh?  Yeah you know I'm right! So let's get to some action cause that's what I'm all about.  I want to start you off with a bite sized chunk of the Power of Tools.  arrharrrahghar  We all love tools, power tools are even better and if you toss in Digital Power Tools - oh yeah now we're talkin'! Meet Evernote. Evernote is one of the coolest tools on the intertron today!  Evernote will help streamline your office documents, procedures and policies, all while offering you the power to create endless stacks of notes to stay organized.  Think of Evernote as your personal assistant that works for you 24/7.  If you're anything like me you have some of your best ideas in the car, where...
Power of Focus

Power of Focus

Being able to focus on one task to its completion has been shown to increase productivity and profit in numerous studies.  So why doesn't everyone just focus on one thing? One of the most common struggles I hear from business owners and staff is that they don't have enough time to get everything done.  Being a Mom of two young children, working full time, being married to a husband who works 6 days a week and is a full-time PhD student, I know there are some things that are just impossible to get crammed into one day. However ...  the bottom line is that we all have the same 24 hours in each day.  The crux of the issue is how we choose to use each of those hours.  So today I'm going to show you a few tools that have accelerated my ability to focus on each task and consequently accomplish more than my counterparts who don't have anywhere near as much going on as I do. But before we jump into that, let's take a look at what most people do. Most people will intend to focus on one task to its completion, but get distracted because they don't have a viable plan for getting that one thing done.  You may not have noticed all of the distractions in the world, because most of us are not consciously aware of them. That's about to change! I want you to take note of each time you're 'on task' and what the 'thing' is that distracts you from completing that task.  Don't worry you're not really going to do...
